First Triathlon Complete

Well my first triathlon is finally complete. Once the race got started everything went very smoothly and turned out to be a great time. Here are the results from the race, I’m just glad I got all the way though it:

Surprisingly to me, the hardest part of the race was the bike. I went into the race with a mountain bike that had part of the gears not working. That was my first problem as about 95% of the competitors had nice road bikes the easily cruised by mine. Having to pedal so hard to keep up, I developed several cramps in my quads, hamstrings and calves which definitely slowed me down during the running portion of the race. My advice to anyone out there is make sure you have a road bike for the race and train for that portion as well.

Overall though, the race was very fun and I will definitely be trying it again next year. I’m already thinking about entering some other races before then. At the end of the race, all the finishes received finishing medals and they had all sorts of food, snacks and drinks for the entrants.

Better get back to training before the next event.
