I was over at my friend’s house the other day and asked if he had heard that Microsoft had extended it’s Xbox 360 warranty from 1 year to 3 years. He asked why, and I told him I heard they were receiving so many complaints about the systems breaking just after the year warranty was up that they had to extend it to take care of the customers. The ironic part of the story is no sooner had I finished telling him this that his xbox came up with an error message and had 3 red lights on the console lit up. The message told him to contact Xbox support.
I guess it is a nice feature to add for the apparent high number of problems that have been occuring with the 360 (although I haven’t had any problems with my 360 Elite yet… knock on wood). It would be nice if they could make a system that didn’t have these problems in the first place. So one day if you’re playing Tiger Wood Golf and you get a 3-lighted ring on your xbox, you’ll know what to do to get you system back up and running as soon as possible (I’m not sure how fast the turnaround time is however, since I haven’t gone through it yet).

I haven’t gone through it yet either and hopefully I’ll never have to, but Microsoft is doing a good job trying to combat the problem.
Yeah, there’s not much else they can do at this point since all the problems have started to occur. Hopefully they fixed the problem before they shipped the Elite (that’s what system I have).
