10 Days from today is the first day of Fall. So I decided now would be a good time to come out with a list of some great ideas to welcome in the new season. Here’s a little trivia for you: The first day of fall marks the day when there is light and dark outside for the same amount of time. This year that falls on September 23. So anyways, back to the list:
- Take a drive in the country and see the changing leaves.
- Go to a pumpkin patch .
- Catch a ride on a hayride.
- Drink some hot apple cider.
- Play some football in your backyard.
- Make a scarecrow (everybody talks about making a snowman in the winter, why wait till then to have a new member of the family).
- Catch the baseball playoffs on TV.
- Find a local corn maze in your area (but try not too get too lost).
- Start thinking of creative ways to carve that big pumpkin you just picked out.
- Attend a football game (whether its a local high school game, college, or pro - it doesn’t matter).
- Begin working on your Halloween costume - Halloween parties are always more fun if your participating.
- Rake all of your leaves in a big pile and jump in them (who didn’t used to do that?).
- Have a Campfire. With the weather cooling down nothing is nicer than a warm fire to site around.
Order some candy for the trick-or-treaters (and probably yourself).- Go pick some apples at an orchard and back a fresh apple pie.
- Go to a local Oktoberfest in your area.
- Go Camping. It’s a perfect time to get out in the wood. It’s not 95 degrees anymore and it’s not snowing yet either.

The one Halloween blog I work on currently is having a contest where they are giving away 2 $50 gift certificates which are good for Halloween costumes at Dreamascream.com. If you or your readers won, that would certainly add to the fun wouldn’t it.
