Fun Things To Do When Bored At Work

We’ve all been there.  You’re sitting at work waiting for the little hand to get to the 5 so you can head home for the day.  When you’re bored at work, nothing seems to go slower.  Well there might be a solution to that.  Here are some ideas you can try in your office to make the day go faster, who knows you might even have fun:

• Get rid of your old inbox and label your trashcan as your new inbox and sit it on your desk (I knew someone that tried this).  Watch people’s reactions.
• Have a trash shooting contest.  Either see who can sink the farthest shot or play horse with some wadded up paper and your trashcan.
• Unplug a coworker’s mouse/keyboard.  Will they call tech support or check it themselves?  Take bets if you want.
• If you coworker has their speed-dial labeled, change the phone numbers and see how frustrated they get.
• Make your cubicle the best one ever.  Add cool/funny posters, get some games, keep candy everywhere.  Everyone will be jealous, especially when their’s looks like the picture above.
• Hold an Office Olympics (like they did in the NBC show, “The Office”).  Be creative and have several events and even have made up medals for the winners.
• If you have fake plants in the office, water them and see what people say.
• If you desk is like mine, give it a good cleaning every once in a while.  It can’t hurt.
• Bring some music into your cubicle.  If you want to be obnoxious, turn it up and wait for complaints.  Who will complain first?
• Cover your screen with Post-Its except for a small area and try to do all your work through that window.  How long will it be until someone asks about it?
• Switch all the keys around on a co-workers keyboard.  Do they need the keys labeled to type?
• Try not to get fired while attempting any of the above ideas.  Consider yourself warned.
