I recently went to eat at a newer restaurant in town, Wolfgang Puck Gourmet Express.  I was interested in trying the restaurant because it was created by the famous chef, Wolfgang Puck.  I don’t know how many people out there used to watch the NBC show ‘Las Vegas’, but that’s when I first really began to hear about Wolfgang (he was the chef in the casino for a while).

Over the weekend, we visited Lucky’s Grille located in Hilliard, Ohio. Lucky’s is a relatively large sports bar with 5 pool tables and numerous tv’s, including projectors that are set up everywhere.

The food at Lucky’s is your typical bar food although it does have a large variety and tastes good. They have wings, nachos, potato skins, sandwiches, salads, soups and more. Check out Lucky’s Menu here.

This weekend they featured a live band named “The Whiskey Saints” who were very entertaining while playing a good variety of covered songs. I would definitely recommend checking this band out as they were very entertaining. Other nights of the week they feature things like karaoke and free pool.

Recently I visited a Ruby Tuesdays restaurant in Columbus and on the menu they listed that they Yuengling on tap. I immediately told the waiter that was what I wanted. Just as quickly as I ordered, I was shot down as he told me they were on the waiting list and hoped to have some in soon. This interaction got me thinking, I would like to hear what some other people have to say about what is their favorite beer and do you have any limitations as to availability.

Most of the beers I try are available in Columbus, Ohio, where I currently live. But one of my favorite beers, like I mentioned before, is not readily available anywhere west of Pennsylvania. After checking the Yuengling website, Yuengling Beer I found that they only distribute it to 10 states at this time, all in the eastern US.

Today we visited Quaker Steak & Lube off the Polaris Parkway exit located at 8500 Lyra Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43240. Always a fun place to stop and eat, we usually go on Tuesdays since every Tuesday is All You Can Eat Wings for $10.95.

Everyone we go with, about 80% of the time, orders the wings with Louisiana Lickers wing sauce, if you haven’t tried it I highly recommend it. Another favorite is the Arizona Ranch, both flavors are unique to Quaker Steak.

If you’re there with a group of people and feel like drinking a beer with your wings, the offer a 100 ounce pitcher (about 3 feet tall) with a tap for pouring filled with the favorite beer of the table. It will save you a dollar or two and it is definitely a conversation piece the first time you order one.

Overall, Quaker Steak and Lube is a fun restaurant with cars, motorcycles and auto parts all around, definitely a unique place for dinner. I highly recommend giving it a shot, and for all those non-wing eaters out there - they do have a nice selection on the rest of their menu.

This Weekend we visited King Avenue 5, a local restaurant and bar in Grandview, Ohio. Located at 945 King Avenue, King Avenue 5 featured a good size menu and an upbeat crowd. The night we visited the Cavaliers were winning the Eastern Conference Finals in basketball, so naturally the crowd was probably a little louder than usual.

The food overall was pleasing. The sampler platter featured a nice variety of Fried Cheese cubes, pizza rolls, fried pickle slices and 4 fried shrimp. Although probably not the healthiest, it was pleasant tasting. I would recommend against getting the fried pickles by themselves though, as they aren’t as good as many other restaurants and the portion was rather small as an appetizer.

For Dinner, we order the Italian Panini and the Meatball Panini. While the Meatball Panini was excellent, the Italian Panini left something to be desired. The Italian Panini was covered in Red peppers and did not feature the best tasting meat (almost lunch meat like).

Over Memorial weekend, we visited BD’s Mongolian BBQ. First of all, this is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. It is a stir fry type dinner that is all you can eat and has just about every combination of choices you could imagine.

I receive email updates from several different restaurants, and most of the time they are a waste of an email. BD’s Mongolian BBQ, however, is really good at providing its customers with quality information of discounts and other coupons. This time, I received a Memorial Day coupon for all you can eat lunch for $7.95 instead of the regular $11.99. We had to take advantage of this deal, and I can definitely attest that it was well worth the visit. Whether your a meat-lover or a vegetarian, this restaurant can take care of any eating desires.

Yesterday for dinner we visited the EJ’s Canyon Cafe in Grandview, Ohio. It is located where Gibby’s used to be at 1433 West 3rd Avenue, Columbus, OH 43212. The look is very similar to how it looked while it was Gibby’s as well, very laid back and relaxing with good tvs.

How Was The Food?
The food was actually better than I expected. We ordered a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with Steak Fries and a house salad, and a Chicken Ceasar Wrap with Curly Fries and a Ceasar Salad. The side salads were delicious and was a good sized portion. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is prepared with your choice of sauce (BBQ, Mild, Medium, Hot or Canyon Hot) and was great as well. The bill including two drinks was under $30.

Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant and will be visiting again. I would definitely recommend this relatively cheap but tasty joint.
