I’ve been playing fantasy football since back in college 9 years ago.  Back when we started playing there weren’t too many online options available where we could host our league online.  In fact, the commissioner of our league did all the scoring by hand for the first season (for anyone that has done that - talk about a time consuming job!)  But all that has changed now.  Everywhere you look on the internet, there are websites offering different levels of quality and services to try to have you hold your league with them.  But the one I use and have used for several seasons now is Yahoo! Fantasy Football.

With the NBA draft tomorrow, there has been much discussion about who should be drafted with the first pick by the Portland Trailblazers - Greg Oden or Kevin Durant? There are many arguments for both players and why each should be selected ahead of the other.

When you try to compare the two, both are immense talents that will be NBA All-Stars for a long time. But the further you break it down, it seems the decision becomes more about which player is more entertaining and which will win more games.

Besides for Jordan, when was the last time a team was dominant for any period of time without a solid big man patrolling the middle? I’m having a hard time thinking of one. Let’s see … Duncan (Spurs), Shaq (Heat, Lakers), Olajuwon (Rockets), Jabbar (Lakers), Russell (Celtics) … all won several NBA titles and dominated their era.

Well my first triathlon is finally complete. Once the race got started everything went very smoothly and turned out to be a great time. Here are the results from the race, I’m just glad I got all the way though it:

Surprisingly to me, the hardest part of the race was the bike. I went into the race with a mountain bike that had part of the gears not working. That was my first problem as about 95% of the competitors had nice road bikes the easily cruised by mine. Having to pedal so hard to keep up, I developed several cramps in my quads, hamstrings and calves which definitely slowed me down during the running portion of the race. My advice to anyone out there is make sure you have a road bike for the race and train for that portion as well.

Overall though, the race was very fun and I will definitely be trying it again next year. I’m already thinking about entering some other races before then. At the end of the race, all the finishes received finishing medals and they had all sorts of food, snacks and drinks for the entrants.

Better get back to training before the next event.
